Syed Ali, President & CEO
Syed B. Ali is one of our founders and has served as our President, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the board of directors since the inception of the company in 2000. From 1998 to 2000, Mr. Ali was Vice President of Marketing and Sales at Malleable Technologies, a communication chip company of which he was a founding management team member. Malleable Technologies was acquired by PMC Sierra, a communication IC company in 2000. From 1994 to 1998, Mr. Ali was an Executive Director at Samsung Electronics where he started the Flash memory and CPU businesses and put together the business plans that drove sales in each line to over a $100M in less than two years. Prior to that, he had various positions at Wafer Scale Integration, a division of SGS-Thompson, Tandem Computer, and American Microsystems. He received a BSEE from Osmania University, in Hyderabad, India and an MSEE from the University of Michigan
Sanjay Mehrotra, Co-founder, President and Chief Executive Officer of SanDisk Corp
Sanjay Mehrotra is co-founder, president and chief executive officer of SanDisk Corporation, a global leader in flash memory storage solutions, and a Fortune 500 and S&P 500 company. Prior to becoming president and CEO in 2011, Mehrotra served as SanDisk’s president and chief operating officer starting in 2006. He currently serves on SanDisk’s board of directors, a position he’s held since 2010. Under his guidance, the company has expanded its focus to include solid state drive (SSD) solutions for the enterprise, as well as new growth strategies for the mobile and client computing segments, established and emerging Retail markets, and investments into NAND scaling and post-NAND technologies. Since helping co-found SanDisk in 1988, Mehrotra has also served as its executive vice president and COO, senior vice president of engineering, vice president of product development, and director of memory design and product engineering.
Mehrotra earned his bachelor's and master's degrees in electrical engineering and computer sciences from the University of California, Berkeley and is a graduate of the Stanford Graduate School of Business Executive Program (SEP). In addition to SanDisk, he serves on the board of directors of Cavium, Inc. and the Global Semiconductor Alliance, the Engineering Advisory Board at UC Berkeley, and the Stanford Graduate School of Business Advisory Council. Mehrotra holds more than 70 patents and has published articles in the area of non-volatile memory design and flash memory systems. His recognitions include receiving the 2013 Outstanding Alumni Award in Electrical Engineering from UC Berkeley and being a joint recipient of the 2006 IEEE Reynold B. Johnson Information Storage Device Technology Award.
Anthony J. Pantuso, Managing Director, NeoCarta Ventures
Anthony J. Pantuso has served as a director since 2004. He has been a Managing Director at NeoCarta Ventures, a venture capital firm, since November 1999. From November 1996 to July 1999 he served as Senior Vice President for GE Equity, a division of GE Capital, a private equity investment company. Prior to working at GE Equity, Mr. Pantuso served in various positions at US WEST, MediaOne and Ernst & Young. He currently serves on several private company boards. Mr. Pantuso received a BS in Business Administration from Colorado State University.
C.N. Reddy, Director
C.N. Reddy has served as a director since 2001. He is a co-founder of Alliance Semiconductor, which until 2006, was a provider of semiconductor products and solutions, and has held various positions. Since October 2000, he has served as the Executive Vice President for Investments at Alliance, during which time he has been responsible for Alliance’s investments in private technology companies and identifying future possible technology company acquisitions for Alliance. From December 1997 to October 2000, he served as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at Alliance. From May 1993 to December 1997, he served as Senior Vice-President Engineering and Operations at Alliance. From 1985 to May 1993, he served as Vice President Engineering at Alliance. From February 1985 to October 2000 he also served as Secretary of Alliance. Mr. Reddy has served as a member of the board of directors since Alliance’s inception in 1985. He was a member of the founding management team at Cypress Semiconductor. Prior to that, he held positions at Texas Instruments and National Semiconductor Corporation. Mr. Reddy is currently the Executive Vice President of Investments and serves on the board of directors at Alliance Semiconductor. He currently serves on several private company boards. Mr. Reddy received an MSEE from Utah State University.
Anthony S. Thornley, Chief Financial Officer of KMF Audio Inc.
Anthony S. Thornley has served as a director since 2006. Mr. Thornley currently serves as the Chief Financial Officer of KMF Audio Inc., a microphone company. From February 2002 to June 2005 he served as President and Chief Operating Officer of Qualcomm Inc., a wireless communication technology and integrated circuit company. From July 2001 to February 2002 he served as Chief Financial and Operating Officer of Qualcomm and from March 1994 to February 2002 as Chief Financial Officer of Qualcomm. Prior to joining Qualcomm, he was with Nortel Networks, a telecommunications equipment manufacturer, for sixteen years in various financial and information systems management positions, including Vice President Finance and IS, Public Networks, Vice President Finance NT World Trade and Corporate Controller Nortel Limited. He has also worked for Coopers and Lybrand in public accounting. Mr. Thornley is a director of Callaway Golf Company, a golfing equipment manufacturer, Airvana, Inc., a wireless equipment company, Proximetry, a network software company, iSports Inc., a wireless software company, and Transdel Pharmaceuticals, Inc., a development stage pharmaceutical company. Mr. Thornley received his BS degree in Chemistry from the University of Manchester, England.
Madhav Rajan, Director.
Madhav Rajan is Senior Associate Dean for Academic Affairs at the Graduate School of Business, Stanford University. In that role, he is responsible for the academic oversight for the MBA program and the Robert K. Jaedicke Accounting Professor of Law (by courtesy) at Stanford Law School. From 2002 to 2010, he served as the area coordinator for Accounting at Stanford GSB. In 1990, his dissertation won the Alexander Henderson Award for Excellence in Economic Theory. After completing his doctoral studies, Madhav joined the faculty of the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and was promoted to the rank of tenured Associate Professor in 1996, and Professor in 2000. He is a member of the Management Accounting section of the American Accounting Association and has twice been a plenary speaker at the AAA Management Accounting Conference. Madhav has taught courses in managerial accounting at the undergraduate, MBA, and executive MBA levels. Madhav has won several teaching awards at Wharton and Stanford, including the David W. Hauck Award, the highest undergraduate teaching honor at Wharton. At Stanford, Madhav participates in a variety of executive education initiatives, including teaching in the flagship Stanford Executive Program. Rajan has also coauthored the first edition of Fundamentals of Cost Accounting, published by McGraw Hill-Irwin in 2005. Madhav is a Director of iShares, Inc. and a Trustee of the iShares Trust. Mr. Rajan received his undergraduate degree in Commerce from the University of Madras, India, and his MS in Accounting, MBA, and PhD degrees from the Graduate School of Industrial Administration at Carnegie Mellon University.
