The archive you downloaded contains the hardware installation instructions, the Nitrox Enterprise Board driver for Windows 2003, libraries, and a test application. This text file contains instructions for installing the software on Microsoft Windows Server 2003, Service Pack 1. Instructions for installing the hardware are contained in CN1000-EB-IG.pdf. 1. Extract the .zip archive file to any empty directory, call it C:\TEMP. This will extract the following files and directories: C:\TEMP\ README_FIRST.txt (this file) CN1000-EB-IG-x.xx.pdf (hardware installation instructions) Setup.exe (installation wizard for libraries and the test application) C:\TEMP\Driver code0.dat (Nitrox firmware file) code1.dat (Nitrox firmware file) microcode.cst (Nitrox firmware file) nitrox.cat (Security Catalog file) nitrox.inf (software setup information) Nitrox.SYS (System file) 2. Halt the server, power off the server, and install the card following the instructions in CN1000-EB-IG.pdf. 3. Boot the server, log in as an Administrator, and follow the Hardware Wizard instructions. A. Where it asks to search Windows Update, choose "No, not this time". B. Where it asks you to install a CD or floppy disk, choose "Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)" button. C. Uncheck "Search removeable media" D. Check "Include this location in the search:" and browse to C:\TEMP\driver then click Next. Note: This release of the driver has not been signed by Microsoft. The Hardware Wizard will warn the you that this software is not signed. Future releases will be signed. If your company policy requires signed drivers, please notify us by submitting a support request at: http://www.caviumnetworks.com/EnterpriseBoards/support.php. E. Click on "Yes" to install the unsigned driver. F. Click on "Finish" to exit the Hardware Wizard 4. Execute C:\TEMP\Setup.exe. 5. Follow the InstallShield software installation instructions. A. Choose a destination folder B. Click "Finish" to exit InstallShield C. Click "Yes" to the request to reboot your server. 6. After rebooting, there will be a Cavium icon on the desktop. Double click it to run the diagnostic and performance application. As long as the diagnostic detects the card and reports no problems, then the card and supporting software are installed. Nitrox-related events will be reported to the System section of the event log, and the Device Manager will show a Network Encryption Acceleration card installed. Adjust the number of simultaneous operations to find the optimum performance for your system. To uninstall the library and application software, use the Control Panel "Add/Remove Programs" feature. To uninstall the driver, use the Device Manager to disable the device and uninstall the driver.
